Upcoming RISE Happenings
Before break, we had a head-to-head haiku tournament that featured top RISE competitors, with winner Erika Teufel and runner-up, KJ Kinsella. After break, we will be preparing for Finals, and students will be writing a paper answering the question "Is Perception Reality" using examples from their experiences and knowledge from all three first semester classes. We will work on these papers all week, and the final draft -- with accompanying materials from all three RISE classes-- is due on Friday, January 11th. Students should go to the tutoring center before this time.
Next semester, we will focus on influence as we answer the question, "What makes us who we are?" In Biology, History and English, we will consider genetics, government, family and environment.

First quarter, our big question: Is Perception Reality?
In all three RISE classes, students will explore and answer this question through activities, essays, reading, movies, guest speakers, labs and field trips. This brilliance will then be demonstrated in a final essay and portfolio at the quarter's end.
